MP's recommendations:
-buy Crisco; do not use substitutes
-use C&H brand brown sugar
-use Nestle's brand chocolate chips
-use gold medal unbleached all-purpose flour
-non-stick double layer cake baking pans are required
Note: There are pecans in the original recipe.
2 3/4 cup flour
1 1/4 tspn baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup Crisco butter-flavor
1 1/2 cup C&H brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla
4 cup Nestle's semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup pecans
Start with Crisco in large mixing bowl. Add brown sugar, mix ingredients by hand with fork until smooth. Add eggs, beat well until mixed. Add remaining ingredients. Chocolate chips and optional pecans are last.
Spray cookie sheet pans with light layer of PAM spray oil before placing dough.
Place 1 1/2 tablespoons of dough on the pan by hand; do not press into balls.
Bake at 350F 10-12 minutes. Allow to cool 1-2 min. before removing from pan. Makes 3 dozen 2 1/2" cookies, or 55 1.5" cookies
Detailed half recipe steps:
Locate 3/4 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/2 teaspoon, mixing bowl, spray oil, cooling racks, baking sheet
In a mixing bowl, place 3/4 cups compacted C&H Brown sugar
Add 3/4 cups butter flavor Crisco
Mix until combined
Add 1 egg
Mix until combined
Add 1 1/3 cup (level) flour
Mix until combined
Add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Add 1/2 teaspoon salt
Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Turn on oven to pre-heat to 350F
Mix until combined
Add 2 cups Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz)
Mix until combined
Bake at 350F
yields 15/baking sheet, 2.25 sheets
